Windows users should copy the file into their REAPER Program directory, which by default will be C:\Program Files\REAPER. It can also be copied to other applications that may need it (e.g. Audacity).
A quick search on the Cockos forums yields a few with some quirky behaviors but none of that sort for Eventide except for the free Ultrachannel. Try there. A post will get a useful answer very quickly. Also, go to the Pre Release sub fourm and get the latest pre release version.

Start Reaper and then quit Reaper again

Control surface support
Like I stated earlier, the only problem is that due to its small size, Reaper will not function if you are offline. However, in today's world are we ever really offline at all?

I don't personally know the bloke, but Ardour looks really cool. Then again, I got in a of trouble here on GS for saying the Neve 8816 looked really cool.
